Korean Studies Institute

MISSION STATEMENT

Located in the historic Dosan Ahn Chang Ho Family House, the USC Dornsife Korean Studies Institute (KSI) serves as a vital center for transnational and interdisciplinary Korean studies in both Los Angeles and North America. Recognizing the impact of the two Koreas and the Korean diaspora on contemporary politics, economics, science, and culture, the institute advances the frontiers of human knowledge by supporting research and teaching that address globally relevant issues in Korean contexts.

Final Logo

Incorporating Korean business values and themes, Brand Workshop developed many symbol studies in order to find that mark that fit this institution most effectively. The team experimented at both ends of the spectrum, seeking to incorporate both traditional Korean culture and a more contemporary flavor that could thrive in the business world. The end result was a mark in which both worlds harmoniously crossed to exist as a relatable and valuable logo for future prosperity and growth.

The final logo mark was realized in the form of an abstract bow tie. This dynamic bow tie incorporated colors that symbolized important values within the Korean community, and a trustworthy and sophisticated essence that would allow this organization to continue to reach far and wide. The Brand Workshop team was then able to create a set of stationery items for the institute as well as update their already standing web presence.
